Custom Padel Clothing: Manufacturing Guide for Clubs & Brands

How clubs and new sportswear brands can specify custom padel shirts, shorts, skirts, dresses, jackets and coordinated private-label collections.

Padel apparel combines court-sport movement with a club and lifestyle identity. Buyers may need competition shirts and shorts, but a complete programme can also include polos, skirts, dresses, warm-up jackets and off-court pieces. The strongest brief starts with how each garment will be used rather than copying a tennis catalogue without modification.

Choose a focused first collection

A new padel brand does not need dozens of styles. Begin with a controlled range that can share fabrics, colours and branding:

  • Men's and women's performance shirts or polos
  • Shorts with secure ball pockets
  • Skirts or skorts with integrated stretch shorts
  • Women's court dresses where the market requires them
  • Quarter-zips, tracksuits or lightweight warm-up jackets
  • Club staff and travel pieces

Reducing unnecessary styles makes sampling, colour matching and size planning easier. Buyers building a broader label can also review our guide on starting a fitness clothing brand.

Movement and fit requirements

Padel involves repeated rotation, reaching, lateral movement and short accelerations. A garment should be evaluated during serves, overhead shots and low defensive positions—not only while standing.

Specify stretch direction, fit preference, sleeve shape, shoulder mobility, waistband construction and garment length. Women's products should use approved women's patterns rather than assuming a scaled-down men's block. A club may also need coordinated youth sizing.

Fabric choices

Common performance priorities include moisture movement, quick drying, low wet weight, stretch recovery and abrasion resistance. Polyester-rich knits are practical for sublimated shirts, while elastane blends can provide additional movement in shorts, skorts and fitted garments.

GSM alone is not enough. Consider knit structure, opacity, pilling resistance and how the material behaves after repeated washing. Use our sportswear fabric GSM guide and fabric-selection overview when writing the specification.

Pockets deserve special attention

Ball storage is a functional product decision. Pocket opening, depth, position and stretch should allow a player to insert and remove a ball without excessive movement or discomfort. Test the sample with an actual ball and through full court motion. For skirts and dresses, confirm whether storage is in the outer garment or integrated short.

Branding and customisation

Full sublimation suits polyester team shirts with complex patterns and multiple sponsor marks. Embroidery can work on polos and structured jackets, while transfers may suit smaller logos or personalisation. The method should be chosen for the actual fabric and placement.

Read what sublimation printing is and explore the available customisation methods.

Club teamwear versus a private-label collection

A club programme focuses on roster management, sponsor placement, repeat ordering and consistent colours across teams. A private-label range also needs brand labels, care labels, hangtags, retail packaging, SKU planning and documented quality tolerances.

Both routes should begin with an approved sample. A digital mock-up cannot confirm fit, pocket function, fabric opacity or seam comfort.

Padel sample checklist

  1. Test overhead reach and torso rotation.
  2. Check waistband security and garment ride-up.
  3. Test pockets with the intended ball.
  4. Inspect light-colour opacity in movement.
  5. Wash the sample according to its care label.
  6. Review print, logo and sponsor durability.
  7. Approve measurements for each size.
  8. Record all revisions before bulk production.

Frequently asked questions

Can padel shirts be fully sublimated?

Yes, suitable polyester performance fabrics can support all-over sublimation. The exact fabric and colour result should be sampled.

What should be tested in padel shorts?

Check movement, waistband security, seam comfort, stretch recovery and the position and depth of ball pockets.

Can a first collection include men's and women's fits?

Yes, but each pattern and size chart should be sampled and approved independently rather than relying on one unisex block.
