Custom BJJ Gi

USSportWear makes custom Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) gi to order for BJJ brands, academies, gyms and distributors. Many BJJ brands sell gis as their core product, so this page focuses on private-label ranges as well as academy orders.

How a BJJ gi differs from a judo gi

A BJJ gi is cut closer to the body than a judo gi, with a shorter jacket skirt and tighter sleeves, so opponents have less loose fabric to grip. Jackets are usually lighter than a double-weave judo gi. For judo clubs, see our custom judo gi.

Jacket and trousers

• Jacket weave: pearl weave is a popular balance of weight and durability; other weaves can be quoted.
• Collar: usually a thick, stiff collar that is harder to grip.
• Trousers: cotton twill or lighter ripstop, with a drawstring or rope waist.

Fabric weight, shrinkage allowance and collar filling are confirmed on your sample. Pre-shrinking can be discussed, because cotton gis can shrink after washing.

Colours and rules

White, blue and black are the common competition colours. If your customers compete, check the uniform rules of the federation they compete under. We do not claim approval by any BJJ federation.

• Embroidered or woven patches on the shoulders, lapels and back
• Printed or embroidered logos on the trousers
• Contrast stitching, inner-jacket prints and custom tape

Sizing

BJJ gis are commonly sold in A-sizes (adult) and M or F sizes (children and women), each with its own measurement chart. Send your chart, or ask us to propose one, and approve the fit on samples.
