How clubs, schools, academies and distributors can specify custom soccer jerseys and uniforms — construction method, fabric, full-kit planning and bulk-order requirements.

Custom soccer jerseys and uniforms are the highest-volume bulk order most sportswear manufacturers handle, but "we need jerseys with our logo" is not a specification — it's a starting point. This guide is for clubs, academies, schools, tournament organisers and distributors planning a bulk soccer uniform order, and it complements our custom soccer balls guide, which covers equipment rather than what players wear.

The first real decision: sublimation or cut-and-sew

This is the single biggest construction decision for a soccer jersey order, and it affects cost, design flexibility and durability differently.

  • Sublimation prints the design directly into the fabric fibres using heat and dye. It suits complex, multi-colour designs, gradients and detailed sponsor graphics, and the print never cracks or peels because it's part of the fabric itself, not a layer on top of it.
  • Cut-and-sew stitches together separately coloured fabric panels. It works well for simpler block-colour designs and is often a more economical route for a straightforward two- or three-colour kit, though panel seams add a small amount of bulk compared to a single sublimated piece.

Neither is universally "better" — the right choice depends on your design complexity, order volume and budget. Send your design to a manufacturer before deciding; a genuinely complex crest or gradient design may only be practical as sublimation regardless of budget.

Plan the full kit, not just the jersey

A soccer uniform order commonly needs more coordination than a single top:

  • Outfield jersey, shorts and socks — home and away colourways if the squad needs both
  • Goalkeeper kit — a distinct colourway from outfield players, sometimes with different fabric weight or padding at contact points
  • Travel or presentation kit — matching polos or quarter-zips for non-match travel
  • Youth sizing — if the club or school spans multiple age groups, quantities need to be split by size and age bracket rather than given as one total

List every piece as part of one coordinated brief so colours, fabric and branding stay consistent across the whole order, rather than approving each piece separately and risking a colour or fabric mismatch between them.

Fabric: what actually matters for a soccer jersey

Soccer is a 90-minute, continuous-movement sport, so moisture management and weight matter more than for a stop-start sport. Most soccer jerseys use a lightweight, moisture-wicking polyester (see our moisture-wicking fabric guide) — heavier than that and the jersey becomes uncomfortable over a full match; lighter, and durability under repeated tackles and washing suffers.

Questions worth asking a manufacturer

  • What's the fabric weight in GSM, and is it appropriate for outdoor, all-weather play?
  • Is there any stretch (elastane) content, and how much — see our elastane fabric guide for how percentage affects fit and durability
  • How does the fabric hold colour after repeated washing, particularly for a sublimated design with light and dark colours side by side?

Customization: crest, sponsor, names and numbers

Send vector artwork wherever possible for club crests and sponsor logos — a low-resolution image pulled from social media will not print cleanly at full jersey size. Confirm player name and number requirements before production: font, placement, and whether numbers need to match a squad list provided in advance or be left blank for later addition.

What to include in a soccer uniform RFQ

  • Squad size and age groups, with quantities split by size
  • Kit pieces needed: outfield jersey/shorts/socks, goalkeeper kit, travel kit
  • Home/away colourway requirement
  • Construction preference: sublimation or cut-and-sew, and why (design complexity, budget)
  • Fabric weight and stretch preference
  • Crest, sponsor artwork, and name/number requirements
  • Sample requirement and approval process
  • Destination and required delivery date

Test the sample properly

Check the sample under real conditions where possible — colour accuracy in daylight (not just indoor lighting), stitching at the seams and hems, and print sharpness on any fine crest or sponsor detail. For a sublimated design, check that colours meeting at a seam or panel boundary line up cleanly rather than shifting.

Yes — goalkeeper kit, home/away colourways and matching travel or presentation wear can all be planned as one coordinated squad order.

Most soccer jerseys use a lightweight, moisture-wicking polyester. Too heavy and the jersey becomes uncomfortable over a full match; too light and durability under repeated tackles and washing suffers.

Confirm this before production — some orders use a squad list provided in advance, others leave numbering blank for later addition. Either approach works, but it needs to be agreed upfront.
