Understand why futsal balls and outdoor soccer balls require different written specifications before sampling or bulk production.
A futsal ball is not simply an outdoor soccer ball with indoor artwork. Futsal programmes typically require a different size and controlled rebound for the smaller indoor playing environment. The correct specification should identify the rule set, player group, surface and testing method.
Size and playing environment
State whether the ball is for organised futsal, school training, general indoor practice or promotion. Name the required circumference and weight instead of relying only on a size label, particularly when sourcing across markets that may use different descriptions.
Reduced-bounce performance
Controlled rebound is a defining buying consideration for futsal. Put the drop-test method and acceptable result in the specification so the sample and production units are evaluated consistently. “Low bounce” without a method is not an auditable requirement.
Cover, backing and bladder
Indoor surface, grip and repeated contact influence material selection. Approve the entire layer system and bladder rather than requesting PU or PVC alone. Our guide to soccer ball materials explains these components.
Futsal-ball inspection checklist
- Circumference and finished weight
- Roundness and panel consistency
- Rebound using the agreed test method
- Air retention at the documented pressure
- Artwork position, colour and rub resistance
- Individual packing and carton identification
Outdoor soccer-ball differences
Outdoor soccer balls are specified for a larger pitch and different playing conditions. Construction options can include stitched, thermobonded or hybrid assembly. Neither indoor nor outdoor use establishes certification automatically; any named quality mark must apply to the exact tested model.
