Sizing over pads, goalie cuts, sublimation vs sewn numbers, home and away sets: what to plan before ordering custom hockey jerseys in bulk.
Ordering hockey jerseys for a club or league is different from ordering soccer or basketball kit. Jerseys must fit over pads, goalies need their own cut, and numbers go in more places. This guide covers what to plan before you request a quote.

1. Size for the pads, not the player
Hockey jerseys are cut large so they fit over shoulder and elbow pads without restricting movement. Size by the player's pads and age group, and use the manufacturer's jersey size chart rather than everyday clothing sizes. If possible, test a sample jersey over real equipment.
2. Remember the goalies
Goalie-cut jerseys are larger to fit over chest and arm protectors. Most teams need one to three goalie jerseys per set. List them separately on your roster.
3. Sublimated or sewn decoration?
- Sublimation: the design is dyed into the fabric. Light, flexible, any number of colours, and no extra cost for complex graphics.
- Sewn tackle twill: raised crests and numbers for a traditional, premium look. Heavier, and the cost rises with each colour and layer.
Many clubs combine both: a sublimated body with a sewn crest.
4. Numbers and names
Numbers usually appear on the back and both sleeves, with names across the shoulders. Check your league's rules on number size and colour contrast, especially for dark jerseys.
5. Home and away sets
Many leagues expect light and dark jerseys. Order both together so crests, fonts and stripes match. Matching hockey socks complete the look.
6. Neck styles
V-neck, crew neck and lace-up collars are all common. Lace-up collars give a classic style; V-necks are simpler and easier to wear.
